Gum disease will afflict 75% of adults after age of 35, and it’s their major cause of tooth loss. Unfortunately gum disease is a silent killer. Most people are unaware that they have gum disease. The most common symptom is bleeding gums.
With bleeding gums, it is important to interact early. If caught early enough, it can be reversible by preforming a dental cleaning. After the cleaning the gums will return to a nice healthy state.
If gingivitis is left alone, it will advance to Periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is the inflammation and infection of the supporting soft and hard tissue surrounding the teeth. In the early stages, it’s called gingivitis which is characterized by redness, swelling, tenderness and bleeding.
